Vanuatu

Vanuatu is a democratic republic located in the South Pacific Ocean - situated at latitude 17.32 S and longitude 168.20 E.

A short 3-4 hour flight from Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The Republic of Vanuatu is an archipelago of 83 islands, it was known as the New Hebrides during its colonial period.

It is a country with great diversity. Tropical islands with coral white sand beaches and geography ranging from accessible volcanoes to pristine underwater coral reefs.

The Melanesian indigenous people work together with an international expat population originating from Europe, Britain, Australia and New Zealand.

Vanuatu is an outdoor adventurer's paradise. There is a wide range of outdoor activities to cater for all tastes including; scuba diving, snorkelling, game fishing, and sailing. Hiking and treks that take you through the lush rainforest, you can also climb active volcanoes! For the golfers, there is an excellent "links" golf course near Port Vila.

Vanuatu has a long and fascinating history and there are interesting archaeological sites and cultural village tours and even World Heritage sites.

There are many restaurants and the numerous ethnic backgrounds of the inhabitants of Vanuatu are reflected in different styles of cooking, French influence being one of the strongest.
